Robin and David were both born in Jacksonville, Florida. Robin went to Englewood High School, and David went to Wolfson. They met in 1973, and were married in 1977. After a short time in Southwest Florida, they moved to Saint Simons Island, Georgia in 1996, learned to work with stained glass, and started Happy Trails Stepping Stones. Their work with stained glass led them to another online business, Stainedglasstile.com, a few years later.

They work and live under the branches of several giant Live Oaks on the bank of a small pond on the northern end of Saint Simons. Four dogs, a cat, and a bunch of Koi and goldfish keep them company.
